1/48 Super Wing Series F-4EJ Kai Phantom II
1/48 Super Wing Series F-4EJ Kai Phantom II
This model replicates the F-4EJ Kai of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's 302nd Tactical Fighter Squadron. This kit is one of the seven to be released in the SWS long nose F-4 kit series (the full lineup will include F-4E Early, F-4E Late, F-4EJ, F-4EJ Kai, F-4F, F-4F ICE, and F-4G).
The aircraft's nose, elongated in order to be armed with the Vulcan cannon, creates the distinctive "long nose" form. The F-4EJ Kai features an additional seven static dischargers on the nose radome and a long flash suppressor at the tip of the nose fairing. Don’t miss the ECM pod underneath the fuselage.
The white-tailed eagle on the tail signifies the 302nd Tactical Fighter Squadron’s initial stationing at Chitose Air Base in Hokkaido, Japan. The shape of the eagle symbolizes "302" with its three blue feathers, angular "zero" tail, and two yellow talons. The final flight of the F-4EJ Kai was conducted by the 302nd TFS on March 19, 2019, at Hyakuri Air Base. On March 26, 2019, the squadron was relocated to the Misawa Air Base and became the first squadron in the JASDF to pilot the F-35A, the next generation of fighter aircraft.
