The Hunt for BISMARCK

Bismarck’s story is one of tragedy and triumph and provides the reader with all of the elements required for a good story. The ship’s career was brief but filled with plenty of action for a warship. The sea battle with the H.M.S Hood has been the source of many documentaries and books and is one of the classic historical battles still taught in military tactics courses. This page will provide information and links to our product lines dedicated to the historical hunt for Bismarck which ended in late May, 1941.

The wreckage of the Bismarck was undiscovered for many years until 8 June, 1989. ( documentary to the right)

The Bismarck, shown here 21 June, 1941, in the Norwegian Grimstadtfjord. This is the port where the Bismarck was photographed by British high-altitude Spitfire reconnaissance aircraft not long after arriving here.

This is a great week to checkout some of the early documentaries about the Bismarck. Here is an early special with Robert Ballard’s team in their search for the original wreckage.
